Although I never had the privilege of teaching with Marilyn, she spent the last five years as my go-to substitute teacher since she had spent so many years developing the curriculum and texts at GBN. My students always looked forward to seeing her and would frequently tell me how they thought Mrs. Yablong was “the nicest lady in the world.” But she was so much more than someone I could rely on to take over my classes when I wasn’t there. Marilyn was a mentor and role model for myself and I will always appreciate her willingness to listen, give advice, and take time to help me become a better teacher. She will be dearly missed.
