Obituary

Joyce Hogan nee Wodlinger, 62, of Northbrook, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 16, 2017, surrounded by her family. Loving wife of Lauren for 31 years, beloved mother of Brett (Andrea) and Samantha; proud grandmother of Wesley and Spencer; devoted sister of Rhonda (Dick) Cohen and Davida Mason; sister-in-law to Leon and Linda Hogan; caring aunt of Adam and David Cohen; daughter of the late Lewis and Shirley Wodlinger. Joyce was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 7, 1954. Joyce was a graduate of Sullivan High School and attended Southern Illinois University. She had a long, successful career in commercial real estate property management. Avid golfer and fundraiser for ovarian cancer research. Chapel service, Sunday 12:15 PM at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Road, Arlington Heights. Interment Randhill Park Cemetery. Special thanks to the caring staff at the Kellogg Cancer Center and North Shore University Health System. My husband and I met Joyce over 30 years ago. We were privileged to share in their joy when Lauren and Joyce married. In later years we did not see each other as often as we would have liked but the warmth of her never left us. When we did get together, it was as if we had never been apart for more than a day.

Joyce was a lady of incredible courage, strength, kindness and grace. We can still smile when we think about her wicked, wicked sense of humor. There will not be another like her. She will forever remain a part of our hearts.

Our hearts and prayers are with all those who were lucky enough to know her, love her and
share some time with her . . . especially Lauren, Brett and family and Samantha

I remember meeting Joyce moving into the dorms in my freshman year of college. I was roommates with Sami. I was always inspired by how close Sami and Joyce were and how much they shared. Joyce was an amazing mother which shows in the strong and compassionate daughter she raised. I send my condolences to the whole family during this time and hope that you are comforted by the beautiful memories and relationships you shared.
