My mother always spoke about Sylvia as her best friend. I knew Sylvia from my earliest memories and I extend my deepest condolences to the entire family

My mother’s cousin was warm and lively. Her memories of my mother and the admirers of her youth at my mother’s celebration of life were wonderful to hear. She still sounded fully aware and vibrant when I spoke to her a few weeks ago.

I could always count on Aunt Sylvia for lively conversation and marvelously acerbic wit.

95 years ago there were 2 Sylvia’s born to two Leibowitz sisters. One was Annie and the other was Lillian. The two cousins shared adorable good looks, fabulous and joyous smiles. And each lived more than 90 years. And then there were none.
Rest in peace dear Sylvia. I loved you and admired you. I hope you and my Aunt Sylvia have a blessed eternity together. Rest in peace and rest in love.

Condolences to the family and friends of Sylvia Kaplan. She was my mother’s best friend for over 60 years going back to their days together at South Shore High School. My father was also a friend of Maishe from their high school days. Our families, including the Langs, spent a couple of memorable summers together in Union Pier, Michigan. My mother often told her grandchildren that her friend “Syl” was the smartest woman she knew, leading us to refer to Sylvia as “the sage.”

I met Sylvia as the sponsor/advisor of My BBG (B’nai Brith Girls) when I was in high school. She was a mature and tolerant influence. As Carole’s friend, she always made me feel welcomed in her home. I felt cared for as though I had another mother. She was fun to be with until the end. I loved her and know she Cared for me as well. She will be missed in many lives.
