Marilyn and my mother Marilyn were good friends for many many years……and neighbors in Lake Point Tower . I always looked up to Marilyn for her strength and wisdom she shared with me over the years. Stacie and I had a standing mom & daughters dinner date where the four of us girls would go and laugh and laugh! We always had a ball together no matter where we had dinner. I am grateful to have known such a brave, strong & courageous women who ALWAYS looked FABULOUS every time I saw her! Thank you Marilyn for being you!

As a little kid we all lived on the southside of Chicago in a tight knit community. I recall how special it was whenever I visited my big cousin Marilyn who lived on Crandon Ave in a two story red brick house which was just a few blocks down from my house. I loved going up to Marilyn’s room and sitting on her bed under her fancy princess canopy among her elegant doll collection. Unlike most teenagers, Marilyn welcomed her pesky little cousin into her room, allowing me to explore all of her stylish treasures. Her room was scented from all the lovely glittery gold perfume bottles and delicate pastel colored boxes of dusting powders that covered her dressing table. I wanted to grow up to be just like her! I think my aunt Jenny and Uncle Gus really hit a home run when they made Marilyn. The stars must have been aligned just the right way or something special must have been going on in the cosmos when she was conceived. All I know is Marilyn was born with so many gifts… so many talents. She was a star right out of Hollywood central casting who turned heads where ever she went. She was a striking beauty who could have given even Marilyn Monroe a run for her money. But as if being a glamorous fashion plate wasn’t enough, Marilyn had brains. She catapulted her own creative ideas into successful businesses. She took her gifts for art and chic sense of style to make beautiful oil paintings which she sold to an eager fan base. Likewise, she brainstormed her employment agency into a mainstay in the corporate arena. She was a role model to us all with her chutzpah, her drive, her celebration of life and her generous heart. She went out of her way to make everyone feel appreciated whether it was a multi-mega jet setter or the guy who parked her car. A lioness to her kids and grandkids, a champion to friends; her legacy lives on. XX OO Ellie Blackman

Marilyn, I wish I had gotten to know you sooner. We did share some fun evenings and lots of laughs and I will never forget how beautiful you always looked despite what you were obviously going through.

Marilyn was my hero. She was the bravest strongest person I’ve ever known. Marilyn and I met when I was eight years old. I was like her little sister .I was always at her house and of course I looked up to her. I remember when she got married ,when Stacie and Brian were born. I moved to California 49 years ago. And all these years Marilyn and I always kept in touch. I will miss her all the days of my life and
she will live in my heart forever.
