Mona and I never met Elyse but it was always wonderful to see her beautiful smiling face in the pictures that Hank posted on Facebook. We felt that we knew her. We were deeply sadden to hear news of her death. Hank and family sending our condolences to you all and may her beautiful memories help you all through this tough time. Thoughts and prayers to you all!

I am so shocked and very saddened to hear the sudden loss of Elyse – a warm and caring person!
I met Elyse as a client nearly 20 years ago, after working together for so long we became good friends. She had a great sense of humor (never forget her quote “would rather eat a gun sandwich than …” :)) Always positive and fun-loving. Enjoyed dining with her at different places. Still have the pen she got me from a restaurant in Belgium which bears my name! Will surely miss her. Rest in Peace Elyse.
Deepest condolences to Hank and her family.

Elyse was such a joy to have in class! Her wry wit and dedication to the class were a delightful combination and she will be missed.

Just seeing Elyse made me happy. I loved listening to her stories about friends,
family, Hank, their travels, the news, “the building”, medical stuff. I loved Elyse’s sense of humor, thoughtfulness, openness and care and concern for others, and kindness. Elyse was so bright, I learned so many things from her. She recommended a doctor, a dentist , and a painter. When I came home from the hospital with a portable I-V she took notes when the visiting nurse came over.
To top that she made soup for me. Elyse, Rosemarie and I celebrated birthdays, went to classes and Tai Chi together. Elyse, I miss you. Hank, so sorry.

i personally did not know Elyse that well. but i will always remember her kindness and friendship to my son Adam. Elyse was like a second mom to him and i am so grateful he had another source to go to. My sincerest wishes and condolences to the Chernow family in this very trying time.

Elyse was such a kind person. I met her in exercise classes at CLL. One day I commented on her beautiful glass earrings.. the next week she had a surprise for me. She handed me a pair of the gorgeous earrings .. such a generous & sweet gesture. I will treasure them & always remember her kindness.I’m sadden about this sudden passing. May her memory be for a blessing..

I am shocked and deeply saddened upon receiving word moments ago that Elyse has passed away. Since I moved away from Chicago 2.5 years ago, it took a few days for me to hear this tragic news. Elyse was a dear friend. I loved her sharp wit and wonderful sense of humor. She was a very caring person; we really “got” each other.
My heart goes out to Hank, Elyse’s and Hank’s family and Elyse’s friends who loved her dearly and who I consider myself to be one of the many.

Roland and I are shocked and deeply saddened to learn that Elyse passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. She was a warm and generous person. We could tell how much she cared for her friends and especially our daughter-in-law, son, and baby grandson. She will be very missed.
Our deepest condolences to Hank, Elyses’s family and friends.

I am feeling such a loss today. Elyse and I first met when she was head of Marketing Research at Abelson, Taylor Advertising agency in Chicago. She was a major client of mine and we connected as friends, too — being the same age, our love for chocolate, and similar interests. I talked her into joining my health club and we spent time working out — although I know she joked about being dragged there! Elsye and I went on to being colleagues in a different way when she embarked on her own business. We laughed, we ate our way through Chicago, and joked about being single until we both met the men we ended up loving.
Elyse had a special spark and extremely funny sense of humor. She had a great sense of adventure and loved sharing her travel stories.
My sincere condolences to Hank and her family. I know how happy Elyse was in life and am thankful for the time we all had to know and share in it.

Elyse was the warmest, wittiest, most generous person I’ve ever known. If you were privileged like we were to be her friends, you knew that she was always there for you. I can’t imagine a world without Elyse. Stan and I were so privileged to call her friend.
Rest in peace dear angel.
