My memories of Larry go back as far as I can remember- Ruthie was my mother’s niece and Ruthie and Larry were my older cousins, old enough to be my parents. As a little girl, my mother would take me with her every year to Chicago to visit her sister, Ruthie’s mom, Aunty Fay and our Chicago relatives. They were wonderful times, and Larry was always so welcoming – he would drive us downtown to go shopping at Marshal Fields, my mom’s favorite department store. He would never complain when he had to wait around for my mom and her sisters. He would drive us to the airport and pick us up. Years later, my husband Steven and I would visit Ruthie and Larry in Florida. They would take us out for dinner and we would always fight over who would pay the bill! Larry used to get so mad when Steven would sneak over to the waiter and secretly pay! He always told us jokes, my favorite one being “goldberg”. Each time he would tell it a bit differently and we would laugh our heads off! Ruthie and Larry had a wonderful, loving marriage and they certainly were a great example for us all. I have always had a special love for my Chicago relatives and I think of them often. Ruthie and Larry were great friends, wonderful cousins and just really great people. I feel truly lucky to have had them in my life.

What more can we say about a man who’s kindness, good humor, and generosity defined him. We will miss Larry dearly, but our lives will forever be enriched by his memory. Our wish is that Larry and Ruthy’s souls can now be re-united, and the ‘forever newlyweds’ are together again. May his memory be a blessing on all who were lucky enough to know him.
