Obituary

Ben Smolensky, 96, proud Army veteran, having served in WWII. Adored son of the late Ida and Nathan Smolensky, and cherished son in-law of the late Ida and Edward Levett; beloved husband, best friend and soul mate of Beverly Smolensky (nee Levett); proud father of David (Debbie) and Daniel (Amy) Smolensky; loving Grandpa of Alyssa, Ashley, Nathan and Leo Smolenky; Ben was the middle brother of the late Joseph (the late Regina) and the late Jack (Natalie) Smolens; treasured uncle of Beth, Carey and the late Larry Smolens. Ben was a founding member of Moriah Congregation in Deerfield and the New Shul in Scottsdale, AZ. He was a teacher and mentor to several thousand students in his 31-year career at Wells High School. He was also a lover of family, travel, the arts and Torah. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Moriah Congregation, www.moriahcong.org or a charity of your choice. Graveside service, today, Monday, October 18, 1:30 PM at Westlawn Cemetery, 7801 W. Montrose Ave., Norridge.
