Obituary

Bruce D. Ovitz, 75, beloved husband and best friend of Lori (nee Cohn) for 23 wonderful years; loving dad of Kimberly Ovitz (Rick Sjöberg) and Brynn Ovitz; devoted son of the late Josephine and Isadore Ovitz; dear brother of Marsha Ovitz (Gayle Becker); adored son-in-law of Joanne (the late Irv) Cohn; treasured uncle and amazing friend to many. Bruce’s greatest joy in life was his family and we will continue to celebrate him and honor his memory daily. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the University of Chicago Cancer Research Foundation (https://uccrf.uchicago.edu/). A Celebration of life will be held April 23rd. Bruce & I were best pals for many years starting in our early teens. I often slept over at his house & got to know his Mom & Dad & sister. We originally met at NAC (National Athletic Camp), attending together for several years & dreamt of playing professional baseball. We shared participation in other sports, poker nights, movies, shot pool & traded dating tips. In addition, we attended Art Gaines Baseball Camp in Hunnewell, Missouri together for several summers. We fell out of touch when I moved to Denver for college. In my mid-twenties, we resumed contact after I returned to the Chicago area & played a little racquetball together. Bruce was immersed in Holiday Magic as I recall & tried to recruit me.

He was a big part of my life for many early years. I was so saddened to read of his passing. A great guy always!
