We are sad to announce the passing of Charles Kenneth Dietz Jr (Ken) of Barrington Hills, IL. He died at the age of 73 on November 12, 2022. Ken passed away surrounded by his loved ones after a tragic car accident. Preceded in death by his father Charles Kenneth Dietz Sr. Survived by his loving family: mother Alibeth Dietz; wife Ilene (nee Stone); children Lindsey Dietz Marchant, Sheri (Luther) Bennet, and Michael (Anna) Dietz; grandchildren Quinn and Ella Bennet, and Josephine Dietz; siblings Jan (Art) Ivanick and Jack (Kate); along with a beloved extended family and many wonderful friends. Memorial donations to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org/donate, would be greatly appreciated. He and his wife Ilene enjoyed their daily tennis games with friends, intimate dinners out for two, and traveling the world together. Their marriage was full of love, celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this past June 2022. He loved dancing with his wife, and his smile was always the light of the party. Ken and Ilene had so many wonderful friends and adventures together throughout their life. Ken adored spending time with his three children Lindsey, Sheri, and Michael, and his three grandchildren Quinn, Ella, and Josie. He was so blessed to have his daughter Sheri and her family living next door, always ready to help with his grandkids; feeling like he was the luckiest grandfather to share in their daily lives and show them everyday how much he loved them. He was fiercely proud of his eldest daughter Lindsey as she followed her dreams of pursuing dance in New York. He worried about her from afar as any father would, but would not have had it any other way. He was ecstatic when his youngest son Michael moved his family close by last year, allowing him to spend more time with his youngest granddaughter Josie who was his newest pride and joy. Ken was born to Charles and Alibeth Dietz on March 6, 1949 in Waxahachie, Texas. He was the oldest of three, and remained close to his brother Jack and sister Jan even though they were separated by great physical distance. His mother and his siblings all loved each other from afar with regular phone calls and visits as often as possible. He was so happy to have gotten to see so much of his beloved family this past summer at his grandson Quinn’s Bar Mitzvah. While family always came first, Ken also enjoyed a long and very successful career. He helped grow businesses by designing and building food and pharmaceutical plants around the world. Along the way he turned colleagues into lifelong friends to whom he was always loyal. Ken was an avid athlete, playing football and baseball both in High School and later at the University of Colorado where he met his wife Ilene. Throughout his life Ken enjoyed skiing, golf, tennis, hunting, hiking through nature, and traveling with friends and family. After his retirement in 2015, he joined several tennis and golf groups and was an enthusiastic member of the organization HOGS (Happy Old Guys) through which he made and enjoyed so many new friends and memories. He and Ilene played tennis with this group several times a week and they played golf regularly. Over the past several years they loved what was becoming an annual mid-winter break in Florida, where they enjoyed golf and tennis, the sunshine, and visiting family. His impact on everyone he touched was tremendous and his absence will be felt deeply for all the years to come. The memory of his joy and exuberance for life will inspire us all and continue to fill our hearts with love. He is loved by all, and our family will carry his love with us for eternity.
