Mickey passed peacefully in his home at Arbor Terrace, Highland Park, Illinois , on July 17, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Born in 1930 to Rose (Javitz) and Nathan Kwait in Erie, Pennsylvania.

He was a proud Papa of his grandchildren: Jeremy(Val) Morton, Amanda(Jacob) Fenton, Elizabeth(Scott) Schaff and Charlie (Megan) De Mar , Rebecca Kwait, Shelby(Scott) Busse and Kieran, Julia and Caroline Kwait. Great grandchildren: Ryan and Shane Morton, Max and Sadie Fenton, Cameron and Archer Schaff, and James DiBuono.

Mickey is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins on both sides of the family across the country.

Mickey was a bright light in our family and among his vast circle of friends. His outgoing and gregarious personality served him well in both his personal and business lives. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He then worked briefly in retail and eventually as a wholesale women’s clothing sales representative. He later affiliated with NAWCAS, the National Association of Women’s and Children’s Apparel Salesmen. As President of this organization he was able to establish the Apparel Center. That building served as dedicated showroom offices as well as convention space to host wholesale clothing and accessory trade shows in Chicago.

His semi-retirement years brought him to Palm Desert, California along with Cynthia, where he enjoyed golf, the sunshine and connecting with family and friends. His matchless gift of gab, laughter, energy and ability to joke around and tell stories will always be cherished by all who had the opportunity to know him.

Mickey was passionate about living life and always ready for adventure and travel. He was fortunate to share several of his later years with Barbara Meister of Ventura, California.

The loving support he received at Arbor Terrace and at Whitehall of Deerfield Healthcare was very much appreciated. The family also sends special thanks to Alice and Lina for their special care and dedication to Mickey.

Mickey’s passing has touched our hearts and our lives for more reasons than we can list. He will always be with us—may his memory be a blessing for eternity.
